État de la populationExpert

The population of Corymborkis minima is currently thought to be decreasing because the habitat of the species is mainly the lowland rainforest, which is the vegetation type most under threat in Cameroon. The species is terrestrial but its number of mature individuals is not known and cannot be estimated.

Description complète des menacesExpert
Corymborkis minima clearly prefers lowland rainforest, the vegetation type most under threat in Cameroon. In fact, the type collection was made very close to an existing oil palm plantation, which demonstrates that even in the Korup National Park, threats exist to old growth forest.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
A record of Corymborkis minima, made at 700 m elevation, is from one of the Mefou collections and represents quite a change in elevation range. This could provide hope that C. minima is known from other locations within its known elevation range where it is yet to be discovered. For conservation actions needed, the Korup subpopulation should be relocated and introduced into cultivation. The promotion of the importance of threatened plant species known from Mefou should be continued, as well as the potential conservation value of Mefou if it is to be gazetted as a National Park. Further investigations of the Rio Muni specimens should determine the accuracy of the distribution for C. minima.

The species is listed in CITES Appendix II.
