A very common species throughout its range. However, there are no hard data on population numbers due to it being common and not an important timber species.

There are no known current threats to the species.  However, future effects of climate change will most likely increase the upper elevation limit of 750 m asl and lead to its distribution being shifted east and north. NatureServe ranks this species as globally secure. This species is not affected by any serious pests. Several canker-forming fungi may result in girdling or breakage of stems. Mildew may defoliate plants and fungi may destroy nuts.
