Considering declining habitat quality and the low number of collections, the population is likely to be small and declining. In 1910 it was however not considered uncommon (Ridley 1910).

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. One collection was made in Taman Negara (National Park) Pahang in which individuals should be under a level of protection. Most of the collections were, however, made outside of protected areas.
