The population size is unknown but the small number of collections suggests it is relatively small. The tree cover on Gunung Matang and Gunung Murud seems relatively intact (GFW 2018) suggesting a stable habitat and population.

The forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted for e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2018). The habitat is at this point in time stable at the sites where this species was collected, but logging and land conversion are potential future threats. Being in national parks and on mountains does, however, lessen the risk.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (BGCI 2018) to be grown ex situ. Both collections were made in national parks (NP); Kubah NP and Pulong Tau NP in which individuals should be under a level of protection (Protected Planet 2018).
