Although the species has a rather narrow distribution it is not subject to any immediate danger of extinction. Grazing by sheep and goats does not significantly affect the survival of its subpopulations but the western part of Mani Peninsula attracts tourists and changes in land use could pose a potential threat (Persson in Phitos et al. 2009).

There are no conservation measures targeted at the species, but part of its distribution is within NATURA 2000 sites. According to Persson (in Phitos et al. 2009), special protection measures are not currently required. However as the western part of Mani peninsula attracts tourists, a monitoring project is necessary as any significant changes in land use could negatively affect the species subpopulations.

The species was listed as Near Threatened in the national red list of Greece (Phitos et al. 2009).
