There is little information regarding population size and trends for the species. In Imittos mountain the species is not rare but localized and scattered (Delipetrou pers. comm. 2016). In Lefkada, subpopulations are rather small (Trigkou 2006).

It seems the species is not facing major threats.  It must be noted that the Colchicum species are usually toxic and not grazed, but trampling by high numbers of livestock could affect population.
