Some subpopulations are very small, while some others consist of many individuals (Persson in Phitos et al. 2009). It is a very localised species although it can be locally abundant.

This species is restricted to only a few localities, which are relatively secluded and thus very little affected by grazing animals. Furthermore, the species is not easily identifiable when in leaves, so it is protected from collectors (Persson in Phitos et al. 2009). There is no recent documentation of threats regarding this species.

There are no conservation measures in place for the species. According to Persson (Phitos et al. 2009) the species is cultivated in Goteborg Botanical Garden. Any changes that may affect or degrade its habitat, as well as collection of living plants in the wild, should be restricted.
