État de la populationExpert
The total population is estimated to be between 2,000 to 3,000 mature individuals (L. Shuka and V. Matevski pers. comm. 2015). According to Matevski (2008), in FYR Macedonia the populations are rather small-sized and the species occurs in mountainous areas, especially on mountain peaks. The population size of the species in Albania and Kosovo was monitored during the period 2005 and 2011 and the data indicates a decline in the population size (L. Shuka pers. obs.) of 20% of the mature individuals. The highest population decline was observed in Kunora e Lurës and Pasdeja localities in Albania, with 38% and 50% decline respectively, and in the Vraca locality in Kosovo with a decline of 10% of mature individuals.

Description complète des menacesExpert
This is a snow-cover related species, with the snow cover protecting the bulbs from extended periods of frost. Climate change may result in the snow belt rising in altitude, resulting in bulb desiccation at lower altitudes. However, the impact and scale of this threat is uncertain. Cutting of meadows for fodder may impact the species in parts of its range, as well as trampling by livestock. Construction of ski-lifts, transmission lines and television transmitters are the main threats for the Macedonian population of this plant (V. Matevski pers. comm. 2012).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
In Albania, the species is classed as EN (A1b) and protected by Order Nr.1280/2013 (MEA 2013). It is also listed in the 1997 IUCN Red List of Threatened Plants under R category. In FYR of Macedonia the plant was included in the species lists for CORINE and Important Plant Areas, and is listed in the Official Gazette 39/2011 as a Strictly Protected species. The localities in Kosovo, Bistra in FYR of Macedonia and Kunora e Lurës in Albania are within national parks in the three countries.

Work to raise awareness amongst local communities is required, and ongoing monitoring of habitats.
