Colchicum euboeum is distributed in two subpopulations in Evvia. The first occurs on Mountains Xirovouni and Dirfy and consists of 5,000-10,000 individuals and the second on Mountain Kantili where less than 2,000 individuals occur. The size of the two subpopulations in Chalkidiki is completely unknown (Trigas in Phitos et al. 2009). No recent data on the subpopulations' size are available.

Livestock abandonment and afforestation which reduces open spaces constitute an important threat. The rocky areas where it grows are not suitable for intensive human activities and there are no signs of grazing as the species is toxic (Trigas in Phitos et al. 2009). Leisure activities such as mountain biking could eliminate some individuals or affect reproduction.
