Description complète des menacesExpert
Despite Sumatra's dense human population, the Sumatran montane rain forests ecoregion contains several large blocks of intact forest, but the habitat is fragile and sensitive to disturbance and pressure on the forest habitat is still ongoing (i.e., illegal logging). Numerous protected areas are scattered along the range and cover 40% of the ecoregion's area, but due to the political situation in the country, these protected areas are threatened by encroachment and poaching (Loucks and Whitten 2001). The Sumatran lowland rain forests, the Western Java montane rain forests and the Eastern Java-Bali montane rain forests ecoregions is seriously threatened, as most of the natural habitat has been modified and cleared by agricultural expansion, logging and rapidly expanding population (Loucks and Whitten 2001).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species is currently listed in CITES (Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival) and the species is currently known to occur within the protected areas network, as population have been found in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and in the P. Soeryo Grand Forests Park. Seeds are not currently stored in the Millennium Seed Bank, but they should be collected for ex situ conservation action.
