Clinosperma macrocarpa

The threats identified are the impacts of invasive species (rats, deer and pigs) and seed collection. Observations report selective behaviour of rats to select viable seeds. In 2015 a person was encountered equipped with a net to collect seeds.

Clinosperma macrocarpa is protected by legislation in Province Nord and in Province Sud and it occurs in one reserve: Mont Panié. This species is subject to an action plan and management plan by Noe, a non governmental organization and a local association that manages the reserve of Mt Panié, Dayu Biik. Their work has focused on phenological monitoring from 2014 to end of 2015, characterization of the predation, control of rats (observations report a selective behavior of rats to select the good and viable seeds.), surveying, in vitro culture protocol (its germination is not yet mastered following IAC research works and the maturity of fruits cannot be estimated according to the colour of their fruits). Recommendation is to pursue conservation efforts, to improve the knowledge on the seeds germination mastering of the species, to list the species in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
