There are no definitive data on to the population size or even relative abundance of this taxon at present. This species is little collected and the only known collections, from Portezuelo de Villagra in 1921, suggested that it was scarce (Baeza et al. 2007), however this may just represent gaps in collection effort.

There is evidence of land conversion for urban development and agricultural expansion within the taxon's known range; however this area is not densely population by human settlements. Analysis of satellite imagery clearly shows that areas of suitable habitat remain intact and largely unexploited by intense anthropogenic activities.
