Description complète des menacesExpert
Threats to the native herbaceous layer in the region include the traditional practice of burning down most of the lower stratum of the forest to allow for fresh growth as fodder for cattle. Other threats include pollution, erosion, expansion of human settlements and agriculture development (Valero et al. 2001). These threats are lessened at higher elevations. The resilience of this taxon to fires and anthropogenic disturbances has not been documented.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species has been collected in several conservation units within its range. The taxon is widely grown ex situ as an ornamental and in botanical institutions. Parts of the chloroplast DNA have been sequenced. Although the taxon does not appear to be currently threatened, the population should be monitored at regular intervals to detect any changes in dynamics.
