The population size is unknown but field surveys indicate the presence of isolated subpopulations (around five or six mature individulas at La Haute Ni) with no regeneration. The number of subpopulations is estimated to be four.

Actinokentia huerlimannii is protected by legislation in Province Nord and Province Sud and it occurs in three protected areas: Parc de la Rivière Bleue, Massif du Kouakoué, Mont Humboldt. Prospection at Mont Nekando, Haute Ni and Mois de Mai and listing of the species in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) are recommended. This species would benefit from ex situ and in situ emergency conservation actions. It would be moreover advised to ensure the follow-up of the known populations and to control invasive species.
