État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
This species is widely distributed. However, the taxonomy of this taxon is uncertain and many subpopulations may in future be classified as separate species. In this case, some of the 'new' species would be highly threatened. Most of the subpopulations are small with fewer than 30 plants.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The main threats are habitat destruction due to clearing and burning for corn and coffee plantations, with also some evidence of collecting. The subpopulations of this taxon have declined by at least 50% within the last 20 years. Though it is distributed (at least Ceratozamia robusta sensu latu) in various localities within the Mexican states of Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas as well as Guatemala and Belize, nearly all of the subpopulations visited over the last 10 years have shown continued declines, almost entirely due to habitat destruction (clearing) and fires. Further segregation of this species complex would result in a Critically Endangered status for some of the Mexican subpopulations (J. Chemnick pers. comm. 2007).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
This species is listed in Appendix I of the CITES Appendices. Plants occur in the Cañón del Sumidero National Park. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulation will support the conservation of this species.
