État de la populationExpert
This species is found on two adjacent mountain peaks and surveys done in 1996-1997 indicate a population count in excess of 8,500 plants. This species may be more abundant if the other localities indicated in Nicolalde-Morejón and Avendaño (2011) are confirmed as Ceratozamia mixeorum.

Description complète des menacesExpert
This species is affected by habitat destruction as a result of deforestation to make way for corn and coffee plantations. The entire locality is rapidly being cleared and planted almost to the tops of the peaks. As with most species within this genus, it is also susceptible to over collecting for ornamental purposes.

Habitats préférentiels (classification IUCN)

  • 1_5Forest - Subtropical/Tropical Dry
  • 6Rocky areas (eg. inland cliffs, mountain peaks)
Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species is listed in Appendix I of the CITES Appendices. Local prohibition of further deforestation to protect the watershed is a likely benefit for this species. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulations will support the conservation of this species.
