État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
This species has been surveyed at 10 sites representing 8-10 localities with numbers varying from 19 to 333 plants in each subpopulation (Carvajal-Hernandez et al. 2020) and a total of 1,013 individuals. Of the ten sites that have been surveyed, there are some subpopulations that have deteriorated considerably due to habitat degradation and the low quantity of individuals. This is the case in Malpaso in Chiapas, as well as Moloaca´n and Las Choapas in Veracruz (Vovides et al. 2020), for which reason the subpopulations at both sites are at risk.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
This species has been severely affected as a result of habitat destruction for agricultural purposes, mainly corn and coffee production (over 80% of original habitat is gone). Over-collecting for ornamental purposes has also had a negative effect on the natural population.
