Plants are known from only two subpopulations. One of the subpopulations comprises 300 plants. In total it is estimated that there are 600-1,000 mature individuals in the wild. It is inferred that the current population trend is decreasing due to habitat loss and poaching.

This species is considered to be endangered because of habitat loss as the forests are being cleared for agriculture. Poaching of plants is also a threat.
