État de la populationExpert

No quantitative population data are available for this species, and there is no recorded qualitative information on its abundance. In herbaria, it is known from only two specimens, collected in 1863 and 1958, hence this species has not been recorded in over 60 years. It may be under-recorded given that it is a small annual grass species. The current population trend is unknown.

Description complète des menacesExpert
The threats to this species are not known. In the vicinity of Debre Tabor, the habitat is degraded Afromontane Forest (mostly now converted to agricultural land) whereas the area north of Gore in Illubabor is mainly of riverine forest with Combretum-Terminalia woodland in the inter-riverine areas, so these are markedly different general habitats from which this species has been recorded to date (Sebsebe Demissew and Sileshi Nemomissa pers. comm.). More information is needed on its specific habitat before threats can be determined, but this species may well prove to be threatened.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert

No specific conservation measures or management plan are in place for this species. The known locality in Gonder is unprotected; that near Gore in Illubabor may fall within the Sibu-Tole-Kobo National Forest Priority Area (UNEP-WCMC and IUCN 2020) but this is uncertain given the inexact collection locality listed. It is not known to occur in any ex situ plant collections in botanical gardens (BGCI 2020).
