Within the protected areas where the species is found there are no threats but outside these individuals are threatened by land use change. One of the subpopulations in Sabah, is located on private land surrounded by agriculture development.

The species is recorded to be protected in situ in two Totally Protected Areas (TPAs) on the island of Borneo. There are no ex situ collection established. In Sabah, the tree is listed under Sabah Forestry Department prohibited species and felling is not allowed in all forest reserve due to its importance as wildlife food resources.
