There is no information on the population size of the species. The species becomes more abundant further up the Hunstein Mountain Range (Palmpedia 2020).

No specific threats are known but general deforestation is considered a threat to this species given its restricted distribution including logging and human development activities such as road building and settlement expansion (Google Earth 2021). The species occurs near major logging concessions and this is a threat to the species. Additional information on threats to this species would be valuable.

The species is recorded from two ex situ collections (BGCI 2020). Its collection site in Husteing Mountain Range is near the April Salome Forest Management Area but it is not confirmed if the species occurs in this protected area. Therefore, in situ conservation efforts should be developed for the species. Additionally, further data collection is needed for the species with regards to localities and population estimates. Seed of this species has been made available to palm enthusiasts (Palmpedia 2020) but research is required into the nature of its cultivation.
