Description complète des menacesExpert
There are no known major threats for the species, however pine-oak forests have been extensively exploited. The forests have been logged to clear land for agricultural purposes, but also to allow the building of highways and other roads (Valero et al. 2001). Bulbs of Calochortus are edible, and were used as food by the American Indians as they are crisp and starchy, and they taste like an ordinary potato tuber (Ownbey 1940), it is, however not clear if C. pringlei is used as a food source.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
There are no known conservation measures specifically for this species, but it is currently known to occur within the protected areas network: Chichinautzin Biological Corridor, Nevado de Toluca National Park, El Tepozteco National Park, Sierra de Huatla Biosphere Reserve. Samples of seed should be collected and stored as an ex situ conservation measure.
