État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
A recent discovery of this species in the Western Himalaya contained a population size of at least 50 mature individuals (Sharma et al. 2019). Around 147 points of occurrence are recognized following the data obtained from GBIF and the survey in India (Sharma et al. 2019). Assuming that all known subpopulations of this species contain a similar number of mature individuals as found in the Western Himalaya, the estimated population size of Calanthe davidii is around 7,350 mature individuals.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
Calanthe davidii was believed to be extinct in the Indian Himalaya until it was rediscovered (Sharma et al. 2019). At least in India, the habitat is threatened due to degradation in the quality of habitat to ill-managed tourism, however, plants are observed to set fruits naturally and hence, there is a chance of discovery of more subpopulations in the Western Himalaya (Sharma et al. 2019). The plants are preferably collected directly from the wild for herbal medicine, as this plant is not known to be produced through micropropagation on large scale, however, there is no evidence to substantiate this statement.
