The forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted to e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2018). By 2017 almost 19% of the tree cover had been lost within the extent of occurrence (EOO) compared to 2000 (GFW 2018).

According to BGCI (2018) this species is grown in eight ex situ sites. Two collections have been made in protected areas; Hose Mountains National Park and Batu Laga Wildlife Sanctuary (Protected Planet 2018).
