The forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted for e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2018). By 2017, about 13%, of the tree cover within the extent of occurrence (EOO) had been lost in comparison to 2000 (GFW 2018).

According to BGCI (2018) this species is grown in 31 ex situ sites. This species has been collected in Gunung Mulu National Park and Gunung Kinabalu National Park (ZRC 2018) in which individuals should have a level of protection (Protected Planet 2018).
