État de la populationExpert
The population of Bulbophyllum bathieanum is currently thought to be decreasing since the species habitat is threatened by forest clearing due to mining activities, and forest degradation by selective logging, timber harvesting for small-scale subsistence and slash-and-burn practices (tavy). The number of individuals of B. bathieanum is not known and cannot be estimated since the species is an epiphyte growing on trunk of trees in humid and subhumid forests.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
Bulbophyllum bathieanum has been recorded from three protected areas, Analamazaotra National Park, Marojejy National Park, and Masoala National Park. One collection (one occurrence) of this species has also been made in the conservation zone surrounding the footprint of a mining project. This conservation zone should be subjected to protection in the near future. This species is listed in Appendix II of the CITES. Ex situ conservation is recommended (micro-propagation, seed banking, and living collections). The species should be included in the Malagasy protected species list. Further awareness building is recommended for local communities and national authorities.
