The population of Bulbophyllum amoenum is currently thought to be decreasing since the species habitat is threatened. The number of individuals of B. amoenum is not known and it is difficult to estimate because the species is an epiphyte.

Seven collections and one observation (six occurrences) have been collected in six protected areas, the Marojejy National Park (one occurrence, two specimens), the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park (one occurrence), the Torotorofotsy RAMSAR Site (one occurrence), the Analamazaotra National Park (one occurrence), the Ankeniheny-Zahamena Corridor (one occurrence, two specimens) and the Ranomafana National Park (one observation). As other Malagasy Orchids, Bulbophyllum amoenum is included in CITES Appendix II. A project of Seed banking through the Millennium Seed Bank in partnership with Silo National des Graines Forestieres for ex situ conservation will contribute to the species long-term conservation.
