This species was collected from Brunei (Labi Forest Reserves, Ulu Temburong National Park) and Malaysian Sarawak (Taman Negara Pulong Tau, Gunung Mulu National Park) and near Long Semadoh (near the border of Sarawak with Kalimantan). The size of the population is estimated to be less than 500. The distance of the forest reserves are far from each other and there is no genetic exchange among the populations.

There are no specific threats known for this species. However, climate change may affect the populations in the protected areas due to change of temperature and rainfall. The population at the border of Sarawak and Kalimantan may be threatened by conversion of land to shifting cultivation and plantation.
