The population of Benstonea serpentinica is only known from 350 to 600 m on Mt. Silam. This patch of forest on ultramafic substrate represents c.10 km2 (Callmander and Buerki 2016). The population trend is inferred to be stable, due to the location being inside a protected area and there is no continuing decline suspected.

Due to its single locality, Benstonea serpentinica is very susceptible to any habitat disturbance such as forest fire and climate change. This locality is open for visitors for public recreation, therefore human disturbance is one of potential threat for this species too. If threats were to become active the species would rapidly become severely threatened.
