Population size is unknown but field observation in one locality indicated a population locally abundant with regeneration. The number of subpopulations is estimated to be three.

Basselinia iterata is protected by legislation in Province Nord and Province Sud and it occurs in one protected area: Mont Panié. Prospection on this species in Colnett is highly recommended due to a lack of recent data in this locality. It is also recommended to list the species in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). This species would benefit from ex situ and in situ emergency conservation actions as well as invasive species control. It would be moreover advised to realize multiplication tests.
