Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
It is threatened by expansion of the main road to the Namosi copper mine. Another contributing threat is the natural predation of the seeds by the Masked Shinning Parrot where mature seeds are destroyed thus impacting regeneration. Its small restricted population is also susceptible to catastrophic events such as hurricanes. Encroaching mahogany plantations are also a possible threat (Watling 2005).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
This species is not recorded at any ex situ site, however, it is likely that many cultivated specimens of this species are identified as Balaka macrocarpa (Hodel 2010).
Recommendations for conservation action include: i) seed collection, ii) establish ex situ collection in Viti Levu, iii) documenting seed propagation and cultivation methods, iv) species recovery and management plan (possibly including enhancement planting), and v) awareness and engagement of land owners and regulatory authorities. Research is also needed into ecology and ecosystem services.
