Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
Seed is held in storage on the Chatham Islands and at the Auckland Regional Council Botanic Gardens (P. de Lange pers. comm. 2010). There is a network of protected areas on the islands. This species has been rated as Nationally Endangered by the New Zealand Vascular Plant Threat Listing Panel (de Lange et al. 2009). Nationally Endangered is the second highest threat category in this system. In addition the rating includes the qualifier 'Conservation Dependent' meaning the taxon is likely to move to a higher threat category if current management ceases and 'Recruitment Failure' indicating poor recruitment ability. The lack of recruitment has been recorded from the newly established sites as a result of competition with weeds and an introduced bird (weka) pulling the plants out and eating the bases (P. de Lange pers. comm. 2010). The recent conservation interventions have helped to stabilize this species that otherwise may have gone extinct. At present the species is being effectively managed.
