Orchids in the Philippines are affected by habitat destruction and illegal collection (University of the Philippines Los Baños Library College, Laguna, pers. comm. 2009)
Appendicula species can also be found at weekend markets in the Philippines, with the most common find being Appendicula buxifolia, (L. Chan of the Philippine Orchid Society pers. comm.). Such orchids are often found alongside Asplenium nidus (Bird's Nest Fern).
