Apostasia ramifera has not been collected since its first discovery in 1959 from the type locality. There exists no information on the population size during its first publication from Hainan.

Nothing is known about threats faced by this particular species, however, few other species of this genus are known to be used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Teoh 2016). The members of this genus are not known to be popular in horticulture either.
