In Europe, Anthophora cinerascens is only known from a few records (ancient and recent) in southern Ukraine and Russia, where it appears to be relatively common (V. Radchenko pers. comm. 2024). There is no other information available for the population size and trend of this species.

The agricultural extension in steppes could be a threat for this species. Overgrazing of wild remnants of steppes is probably also problematic (P. Rasmont pers. comm. 2024). Other threats to this species are unknown.
