It is an extremely rare species, only known from very few specimen from true steppes in S. Russia, not far the Kazakhstan border. All European specimens are older than one century. It is possible that this species is now extinct from the continent (P. Rasmont pers. comm. 2024).

The agricultural extension in steppes are clearly the main threat. Overgrazing of wild remnants of steppes are probably also problematic (P. Rasmont pers. comm. 2024). Other threats to this species are unknown.
