Description complète des menacesExpert

The major threat to this species is illicit collection in the wild for local, national and international trade, although there are no detailed statistics on the amount of harvesting presently occurring (L. Rajaovelona pers. obs.). The logging of forest, continuing practice of "tavy" (slash and burn) agriculture, burning, and charcoal production are also known to be disturbing the species' habitat by removing the host trees on which this epiphytic species grows and changing the forest humidity and light levels to which the species is adapted - likely causing a localized decrease in abundance. Pesticide use causes the decline in specific pollinators of some orchids on Madagascar (J. Andriantiana pers. obs.).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert

There are no known conservation measures specifically for this species, but it is currently known to occur in several Protected Areas: Daraina, Tsaratanana, Manongarivo, Ambohitantely, Ranomafana, Itremo, Midongy du Sud, Ranomafana, Kalambatritra, and Andohahela. It is recommended that seeds are collected, for storage and in vitro propagation, as part of ex situ and restoration-based conservation measures.
