Angraecum chermezonii is currently thought to be decreasing since the subpopulation in the footprint of the mining project should be considered as extirpated. The number of mature individuals of A. chermezonii is unknown.

This species experiences continuing decline in extent of occurrence, area of occupancy, habitat quality, number of subpopulations and number of mature individuals due to mining activities, selective logging, charcoal production, timber harvesting for small-scale subsistence and tavy (slash-and-burn farming).

Eight collections and six observations (14 occurrences) have been made in seven protected areas, the Ambositra-Vondrozo corridor protected harmonious landscape (three occurrences), the Ankeniheny-Zahamena Corridor natural resources reserve (two occurrences), the Tsaratanana natural integral reserve (one occurrence), the Marojejy national park (two occurrences), the Mantadia national park (two occurrences), the Maromizaha natural resources reserve (one occurrence), the Ajnozorobe Angavo Protected Area (one occurrence) and the Torotorofotsy protected area (three occurrences). Angraecum chermezonii is also known from four collections (two occurrences) made in the conservation zone surrounding the footprint of a mining project and this forest should be subject to protection in the near future. Individuals from this species have been brought to cultivation in the Ambatovy shade house. This species is included in Appendix II of CITES.
