Angraecopsis thomensis is known from five specimens representing two subpopulations and one location. The current population trend is stable. Its number of individuals is not known and cannot be estimated since the species is epiphyte.

Angraecopsis thomensis is epiphyte in old secondary vegetation, with no known current threat. However, industrial palm oil plantations will be established in the southeast of the island, a situation that will threatens the species habitat in the near future.

Intensive fieldwork should be done in the secondary vegetation in the South of São Tomé to collect again the species, before the projected deforestation for industrial palm oil plantations. The species should be introduced into cultivation for its ex situ conservation.
