In Cameroon Ancistrorhynchus serratus has been recorded from sites in unprotected areas. These sites appear threatened by deforestation for shifting agriculture and collecting of fuel wood for small-scale subsistence.

In Bioko, Ancistrorhynchus serratus has been recorded only in protected areas (Pico Basile National Park and Caldera de San Carlos Scientific Reserve) whereas in Cameroon, the species is known from Mount Oku and Mount Cameroon National Parks, as well as from sites in unprotected areas. These protected areas appear well managed and are not under threat. Ancistrorhynchus serratus is easily being grown in Yaoundé shade house in Cameroon. Seed banking is underway for this species in Yaoundé.
