Description complète des menacesExpert

Ancistrochilus thomsonianus is recorded from sites in unprotected areas that are easily accessible to local human inhabitants, or are under pressure, such as roadsides in villages, cocoa plantations and lowland rainforests. The main threats are shifting agriculture, selective logging, and timber harvesting for small-scale subsistence.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert

The species is known from four sites in protected areas in Cameroon (Mount Cameroon National Park), Bioko (Pico Basile National Park), Rio Muni (Monte Alén National Park) and Gabon (Monts de Cristal). These sites are not under threat and appear well managed. Ancistrochilus thomsonianus is easily being grown in shadehouses in Central Africa (Yaoundé in Cameroon, Libreville, Tchimbélé and the Sibang Arboretum in Gabon), and by some hobbyists. Seed banking is underway for this species in Yaoundé.
