Anadelphia macrochaeta

There is much cattle grazing in bowal areas and as a result there has been an increase in the fire regime over time. Fires are set at during the dry season to promote new growth for grazing (C. Couch pers. obs. Nov. 2016). This is likely to result in degradation of the habitat overtime and perhaps disappearance of annual grass species if they are unable to complete seed setting. In the Boke area, there is also a threat from mining operations in the bowal where there are deposits of bauxite close to the surface. Across the extent of occurrence there has also been an increase in agriculture, however, it is not clear to what extent this may have affected the species.

This species occurs within the Mt Gangan Classified Forest, however this area has no formal protection and is not recognised as a protected area in the OGUIPAR network. It is not found within any current protected areas. There are no known conservation actions for this species. More information is needed about the size of the population and monitoring of threats is required. General awareness of the threats to the habitat and species contained within would be beneficial for this species.
