No quantitative population data are available for this species. It is known from four herbarium specimen collections dating from 1933-2016. This species can be locally common in the sandstone grassland landscape and has likely been under collected (M. Cheek pers. comm. 2018). It was last collected from Kindia in 2016 near the predicted original site of the Jacques-Felix 1933 collection.

The main threat to this species is conversion of habitat from bowal grassland to market gardening. There is a method used in the Kindia area to create 'raised beds' on the sandstone bowal for local market gardening of vegetables and herbs for Kindia town (C. Couch pers. obs. Oct. 2015). There is also much cattle grazing in the area on the grassland and as a result there has been an increase in the fire regime over time. Fires are set at during the dry season to promote new growth for grazing (C. Couch pers. obs. Nov. 2016).

This species occurs within the Mt Gangan Classified Forest, however, this area has no formal protection and is not recognised as a protected area in the OGUIPAR network. There are no known conservation actions for this species. More information is needed about the size of the population and monitoring of threats is required.
