Anacamptis boryi is local and rather rare where it occurs. The overall number of individuals is not known; however, the distribution area is potentially small which threatens the species (Delforge 1995, Kretzschmar et al. 2007).

Anacamptis boryi is local and rather rare. The small populations occurring at outposts are extremely vulnerable as they are sensitive to numerous anthropogenic threats including decline of habitat quality especially through human interference. The large populations are threatened by habitat changes, tourism, plant collection and by the tendency to give up pastoral activities which leads to vegetation succession on the existing meadows (Delforge 1995, Kretzschmar et al. 2007).

All orchids are included under Annex B of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The following actions are recommended to protect Anacamptis boryi (Delforge 1995, Kretzschmar et al. 2007):

Improve the management of the habitat
Moderate grazing and control of shrub encroachment
Protection of the living individuals through legislation which bans the species from being picked or dug up.
Ex situ conservation: Artificial propagation, re-introduction, seed collections
Monitoring and surveillance of the existing populations and sites
Estimate the population size and study their dynamics
