État de la populationExpert
The population of Ambrella longituba is currently thought to be decreasing since its habitat is threatened by habitat degradation due to illegal agricultural activities, forest cutting and fire related to Cannabis cultivation. The number of mature individuals of the species is estimated to be less than 50 (J. Hermans pers. comm. 2022).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The two collections of Ambrella longituba, representing one occurrence, have been recorded from Montagne d'Ambre National Park and one living collection has been held at Vienna Botanic Garden (J. Hermans pers. comm. 2022, BGCI 2022). The species is listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) but should be moved to Appendix I. It should be also included in the list of Malagasy protected species. Seed banking and micro-propagation must be developed for the species. Further awareness building is recommended for local communities and national authorities. Surveys are urgently needed to establish its current distribution, population, threats and habitat status and trends.
