The forests of Borneo are continuously threatened by logging and conversion for e.g. palm oil production (WWF 2018). Nearly 16% of the tree cover within the extent of occurrence has been lost in a 16 year period (GFW 2018).

The type collection was made in Gunung Mulu National Park in which individuals are under a level of protection (Poulsen 2006). This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2018) to be grown ex situ. Research and monitoring of this species is desired to better understand its conservation needs.
