The actual population size is unknown. It is, however, considered common in Sarawak (Lamb et al. 2013). Based on tree cover loss data (GFW 2018) there is a suspected population decline.

The forests of Borneo are at risk of being logged and converted e.g. for palm oil production (WWF 2018). Almost 29% of the tree cover within the part of Bornean distribution had been lost by 2017 compared to 2000 (GFW 2019).
