There are no known threats to Aloe collina but there are habitat threats in the Troutbeck area from invasive Pinus patula and possibly from increased tourism developments (holiday cottages) in the Nyanga Downs area.

The species does not occur in any formal conservation area, although it is found on private farmland that is mostly managed for amenity and conservation. It was previously assessed as Vulnerable under criteria A1c+D2 in the Southern African Plant Red Data Lists (Mapaura and Timberlake 2002). All Aloes are listed as protected species in Zimbabwe and is included in CITES Appendix II.
