The species undergoes a population continuing decline due to illicit harvesting, most of the time destructive, and of its habitat destruction due to annual fires, cattle grazing, herbivorious attack, mining. The mature individuals are not affected by the fires for their locations on rocks, but it affects the seeds germination rate.
