The main threat in the area where this species is found is the increment of induced fires in grasslands linked to cattle ranching and agricultural activities. Fires are also link to political reasons, is a way people manifest discontent with the political situation. Fire kills matures plants and seeds, and affects seedling establishment because the microhabitat (crevasses in rocks) of the species is altered by the fire.
